VIDEO: Ryan Reynolds Dedicates Critics' Choice Award to Kids Fighting Cancer
Ryan Reynolds dedicated the EW Entertainer of the Year award to two different non-profits fighting cancer while on stage at the 22nd Critics’ Choice Awards.
“The character had cancer and some of the people that this character resonated with was sick kids. So I would like to dedicate this honor to the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the SickKids Foundation of Toronto, two incredible organizations that do so much for so many kids in need,” the 40-year-old actor said in his speech on stage. “They started a fight and it’s up to us to finish it.”
Specifically, Ryan dedicated the award to two young fans, Connor McGrath and Grace Bowen, who passed away from cancer. “They didn’t lose the battle. But they did start a fight and it’s up to us to finish it.”
