Rian Johnson Responds to the Haters of 'The Last Jedi'
Rian Johnson is speaking out to respond to haters of his movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi, specifically those who criticized Luke’s Force projection near the end of the film.
The director wrote a thread of tweets in which he didn’t even use words to explain himself.
Rian started the thread with the eyeball emojis to let his followers know that he could see their critiques. He then shared a photo of his bookshelf with the book “The Jedi Path” on it.
Then, Rian opened up the book to the “Advanced Force Techniques” section and shared the definition of a “doppelganger,” as explained in the Star Wars endorsed book.
“Doppelganger permits a Jedi to create a short-lived duplicate of himself or herself or an external object that is visually indistinguishable from the real item. Those who have perfected this ability can create phantoms of any person of their choosing or trick an enemy into seeing more objects, such as droids, than are actually present,” the book explained.
Rian than faded into the distance with the help of a Homer Simpson GIF. He also had a conversation about Leia’s float in space moment!

Anything in there on Mary Poppins Leia? Thanks…asking for a friend https://t.co/5179fUMgiX

I never really understood the complaint – can you articulate it for me? Is it just that Leia shouldn’t be able to use the force?
— Rian Johnson (@rianjohnson) January 19, 2018
Rian, it was just very odd. She should be able to use the force, but my perception would've been that it would've been in a very limited capacity due to her focus on politics and not training with the force. That wasn't some simple force jump she did.

Interesting. I guess the fact that she’s in zero G and that space offers no resistance meant (to me) that it wasn’t a big feat at all – kinda minimal, in fact.

Thanks for your response. I thought about that, but then I also thought about the what kind of physical torment that being in the cold vacuum of space would do when you're trying to channel the force? How could she focus to do that much with little to no training?

Cause she’s a badass muthafucka.

She would not be conscious. https://t.co/tQ7a0VdTiZ
