Gerard Butler Explains On 'Late Show' How Getting Fired As Lawyer Kick-Started His Acting Career
Gerard Butler stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night (October 24) and opened up about studying law for almost seven years before becoming an actor.
“Well it depends what you mean by ‘a lawyer’, I studied law for five years and then I trained as a layer for two years,” the 48-year-old Hunter Killer star told Stephen.

“I trained with this big firm in Scotland, but I actually almost missed my last big firm to interview. I missed my interview because after my last exam I got completely drunk and I woke up and missed this big interview. I ended up getting the job, three of us got the job out of like 175 people or something,” Gerard continued. “I ended up becoming — I”m very proud of this — the first trainee lawyer ever in the history of the Scottish legal system to be fired before he qualified.”
Gerard‘s girlfriend Morgan Brown was spotted outside at the Ed Sullivan Theater as she made her way inside to attend the taping.
