Netflix Cancels 'Ballad of Buster Scruggs' Red Carpet Due to Borderline Shooting & California Fires

Netflix is axing the red carpet portion of the screening of The Ballad of Buster Scruggs during AFI Fest on Sunday (November 11) following the horrific shooting at Borderline Bar and in light of the ongoing California wildfires, which continue to rage in Ventura and Los Angeles counties.

“Our hearts are with the victims and families of the Borderline shooting and of the California wildfires. In light of the tragedies this week, we will be cancelling tonight’s AFI Fest red carpet coverage for The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. The screening will continue as planned. We thank you in advance for understanding and encourage everyone to donate to the many organizations who are helping those impacted by the shooting and the fires,” the company said in a statement.

The six-part Western anthology film is a series of tales about the American frontier told through Joel and Ethan Coen. Each chapter tells a distinct story about the American West.

Our thoughts are with anyone affected at this difficult time.
