Sam Elliott's Wife Told Him About His Oscar Nomination for 'A Star is Born'

Sam Elliott stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday (January 24) and dished all about scoring a Best Supporting Actor nomination for the 2019 Oscars this week for A Star Is Born — his first ever in his 50-year career.

“My wife told me, I heard her go, ‘Sam!’, at about 6:30 in the morning,” the 74-year-old actor told Jimmy about when and how he found out. “She calls me Sammy as my mom did, and she said, ‘you got nominated!’”

“I said, ‘well, cool,” Sam continued casually.

“I was familiar with her work as a singer, for sure,” Sam added about his co-star Lady Gaga. “I have a daughter that’s her age, so I’ve been listening to Gaga since she came onto the scene.”
