Kate Mara Reveals She Suffered Miscarriage Before Welcoming Baby Girl with Jamie Bell

Before Kate Mara and Jamie Bell welcomed their baby girl, she revealed she suffered a miscarriage.

“It was the first time I’ve ever been pregnant, and I’ve never had that excitement and shock of being an almost mom,” Kate said on the Dr. Berlin’s “Informed Pregnancy” podcast.

She said when she told here husband Jamie Bell, “He just burst out laughing and was like, ‘Oh, my God. How is that possible?’”

However, when they went to the ultrasound, the technician “couldn’t see the embryo.”

She continued, “I think the next day we went back in and [the ultrasound technician] said I clearly had a blighted ovum. … ‘Basically, you’ve miscarried, but it just hasn’t left your body yet.”

About getting pregnant for a second time, Kate said, “I was so excited, but also sad that we weren’t as excited as we were the first time, because that was clear that it was a very different dynamic.”
