Kanye West Scores Record-Tying Ninth No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With 'Jesus Is King'

Kanye West is back on top of the throne.

The 42-year-old rapper debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with Jesus Is King, his latest studio album, as of Sunday (November 3) according to the official chart company.

This is Kanye‘s ninth No. 1 album, tying with Eminem for the longest streak of No. 1 albums in chart history.

The album moved 264,000 equivalent album units in its first week, with 109,000 of those being albums sales, and the rest largely from streaming activity.

Every album he’s released since 2005 has gone to No. 1. The only one that didn’t was his debut, 2004′s The College Dropout, which peaked at No. 2. Jay-Z has the most overall No. 1 albums at 14, but they aren’t consecutive.

With nine No. 1 albums, he ties with five other acts for the sixth-most No. 1s in the history of the chart, including Madonna and Drake.

He also notched the fifth-biggest streaming week of 2019, the second-largest sales week of 2019, and his own personal best streaming week ever. Congratulations, Kanye!
