Taron Egerton Wins Best Actor for 'Rocketman' at Golden Globes 2020, Thanks Elton John (Video)
Taron Egerton takes home the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for Rocketman at the 2020 Golden Globe Awards!
The 30-year-old actor was honored at the event held on Sunday (January 5) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.
He won for his portrayal of Elton John, beating out Daniel Craig (Knives Out), Roman Griffin Davis (Jojo Rabbit), Leonardo DiCaprio (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), and Eddie Murphy (Dolemite Is My Name).
Taron called his fellow nominees “legitimate icons” and said that his role as Elton was the “best experience of my life.”
Taron also thanked director Dexter Fletcher, producer Matthew Vaughn, and Elton: “To Elton John, thank you for the music, thank you for living a life less ordinary, and thank you for being my friend.”
Finally, Taron gave a shout-out to his mom in the audience, saying, “This one’s for you ma’am.”
