Gwyneth Paltrow & Brad Falchuk Bring Fans Into Their Chat With an Intimacy Teacher

Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Brad Falchuk are talking how to navigate intimacy while having kids in the house during quarantine!

The 47-year-old Iron Man actress and the 49-year-old TV writer – who are living with their combined four children – recently sat down with intimacy teacher Michaela Boehm to discuss the issue amid the current health crisis.

“We’re lucky that we have a really solid relationship, but we’re also in the house with the kids and it’s pretty close quarters,” Gwyneth said during the video chat on Thursday (April 2), which was posted on Goop.

“I think we all feel, especially my teenagers right now are really feeling very pendent, especially [my daughter] Apple, who’s a very social creature,” she continued.

She added that she, Brad Falchuk, their kids, and their dogs are all in close quarters “trying to work,” asking Michaela, “What are you supposed to do?”

The expert said that making schedules can help, joking that “teenagers you just have to live with.”

“You have to have areas of engagement that have timeframes attached to them,” Michaela continued. “Certain dimensions of one’s life are not being mixed together all the time, because that kills everything.”

She added that during difficult times, “couples’ time gets muddled [and] that is really grating on anyone” and that “it’s fine to take an hour or two that doesn’t involve anyone else in the household.”

She also suggested that during quarantine, people should “put any kind of relationship, drama, discussions, things that need to be worked on, on the back-burner” in order to “focus on the best possible communication.”

When Gwyneth asked what she would tell someone who is “having a hard time feeling sexual,” Michaela responded that women’s bodies go “into the survival mode” when stressed, which usually leads to them not craving “so much pleasure.”

Michaela recommended trying to engage “with the senses,” which “brings sensuality up and sensuality begets sexuality.”

“Engagement with the senses is also very important for survival,” she shared. “So by going via the senses, and that would be things like, self-care, beauty, dressing in ways that feel particularly good.”
