Shia LaBeouf Faced Backlash After Winning an Emerging Screenwriters Competition

Shia LaBeouf keeps up his fitness routine with a run around his neighborhood in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon (May 26).

The 33-year-old actor has been on several runs amid lockdown, stepping out solo and with wife Mia Goth.

If you didn’t hear the news, Shia just recently won a screenwriting competition at the Sun Valley Film Festival.

The script is titled “Minor Modifications” and was declared the winner of the High Scribe award, TheWrap reports.

The prize offers Shia “one-on-one meetings with some of the industry’s finest to discuss their work” as well as “mentoring from an experienced professional.”

The win has sparked some backlash from other screenwriters who also entered the competition.

“Shia entered the competition as an emerging writer,” a rep for Shia shared. “He is thrilled to be a part of the community and thrives off of any opportunity to gain insight, constructive criticism and knowledge from those with more experience…and that’s in regards to any art form.”
