Herman Cain Dead - Former GOP Presidential Candidate Dies After Battle With Coronavirus

Herman Cain has died.

The former Republican presidential hopeful passed away at the age of 74 after being hospitalized with coronavirus earlier this month.

Herman Cain – our boss, our friend, like a father to so many of us – has passed away. We all prayed so hard every day. We knew the time would come when the Lord would call him home, but we really liked having him here with us, and we held out hope he’d have a full recovery,” his website announced Thursday (July 30).

He had previously attended President Donald Trump‘s rally without a mask in Tulsa, Oklahoma two weeks before the diagnosis.

Cain found out that he tested positive for COVID-19 at the end of June and one day later, he was tweeting support for South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem’s decision not to require mask-wearing or social distancing during Trump‘s then upcoming Mount Rushmore event. The Trump campaign said all attendees at the event had their temperatures checked upon entry, and that masks and hand sanitizer were handed out but not required to use. He was hospitalized on July 1.

Last year, Trump briefly considered Cain as his nominee to join the Federal Reserve Board. He was a business executive and board chairman of a branch of Kansas City’s Federal Reserve Bank before moving into Republican politics, later becoming a presidential candidate.

Our thoughts are with Herman Cain‘s loved ones at this difficult time.

Here is who else we have sadly lost due to coronavirus…
