MLB Baseball Teams Postpone Games; Join Milwaukee Bucks In Protesting Jacob Blake Shooting

Some Major League Baseball teams are following in basketball team Milwaukee Bucks footsteps.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds have all postponed their planned games tonight in response to the shooting of Jacob Blake.

If you don’t know, Jacob was shot multiple times in the back by a police man in front of his four children earlier this week in Wisconsin.

“The players from the Brewers and Reds have decided to not play tonight’s baseball game,” a joint statement from the Brewers and Reds reads. “With our community and our nation in such pain, we wanted to draw as much attention to the issues that really matter, especially racial injustice and systemic oppression.”

Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres have also joined the teams in not playing their game that was planned tonight.

Mariners outfielder Dee Gordon shared his own statement about the decision to not play.

“There are serious issues in this country. For me, and for many of my teammates, the injustices, violence, death and systemic racism is deeply personal,” he wrote. “This is impacting not only my community, but very directly my family and friends. Our team voted unanimously not to play tonight.”

Other players who made the choice to sit out, according to SI, include Cardinals outfielder Dexter Fowler, and pitcher Jack Flaherty.
