HBO Casts Lead Actor for 'Game of Thrones' Prequel Series: Paddy Considine!

Paddy Considine has been cast in the lead role for the upcoming HBO series House of the Dragon, a prequel to the smash hit series Game of Thrones!

The 47-year-old actor most recently starred in HBO’s series The Outsider and he’s currently appearing in the new HBO series The Third Day. You might also know him from roles in movies like The Bourne Ultimatum and Cinderella Man, as well as the series Peaky Blinders.

Variety reports that Paddy will play “King Viserys I, who chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal. A warm, kind, and decent man, Viserys only wishes to carry forward his grandfather’s legacy. But good men do not necessarily make for great kings.”

House of the Dragon will tell the story of House Targaryen and it takes place a few hundred years before the events in Game of Thrones. HBO has ordered a 10-episode first season, which is expected to debut in 2022.
