Mitch McConnell Laughed While Being Called Out for Lack of Action on Coronavirus in Debate with Amy McGrath

Mitch McConnell is a Republican senator from Kentucky, plus the Senate Majority Leader, and his seat in the senate is currently up for election. He is running against Amy McGrath and she just slammed him during their debate.

McGrath called out McConnell for failing to pass a new coronavirus relief package after the CARES Act was passed in March. The House passed the $3.4 trillion HEROES Act in May, but McConnell still refuses to let the Senate vote on the bill. The citizens of the U.S. could have received much needed relief months ago, but he has been blocking this from happening.

While Amy eviscerated Mitch on his inaction, he was laughing the entire time with a smug smile on his face.

“The House passed a bill in May and the Senate went on vacation. You just don’t do that. You negotiate, senator. It’s a national crisis. You knew that the coronavirus wasn’t going to end at the end of July. We knew this. And here’s the thing, if you want to call yourself a leader, you’ve gotta get things done. Those of us that served in the marines, we don’t just point fingers at the other side, we get the job done,” she said while he laughed. Watch the clip below.

Amy also said during the debate, “Sen. McConnell built a Senate that is so dysfunctional and so partisan that even in the middle of a national crisis he can’t get it done. For that reason alone he should be voted out of office.”
