Tom Payne, who currently stars in the Fox series Prodigal Son, revealed that he actually auditioned for one of the leads in Netflix‘s hit show Bridgerton.

The 38-year-old actor auditioned to play the Duke of Hastings in the role that eventually went to Regé-Jean Page.

Tom spoke out about his audition and revealed why he believes he did not land the role of the love interest to Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor).

“I auditioned for one of the parts — the big heartthrob hunk guy — but I’m not tall enough,” Tom told People. “You can’t walk into the room and look up at anyone. It’s just not going to work for that kind of character.”

Bridgerton is actually filmed in Bath, where I’m from, so there are locations in Bridgerton which are still there which you can go and look at and marvel at,” he said. “And it’s very nice to see my hometown on screen.”

Google reveals that Tom‘s height is around 5′ 7″, and fans believe Rege-Jean may be almost 6 feet.
