Apparently, according to a report that originated on The Verge, the change is happening because the company wants the new name to “reflect its focus on building the metaverse.”

The site continued by saying that CEO Mark Zuckerberg plans to talk about the big reveal at the Connect conference, which is slated to happen next week on October 28. Facebook declined a comment for the story on the rumored name change.
