Kelsea Ballerini Opens Up About Going to Couples Therapy with Husband Morgan Evans

Kelsea Ballerini is celebrating the release of her new poetry book!

The 28-year-old “half of my hometown” singer met with fans and signed copies of her book Feel Your Way Through at Books-A-Million on Thursday (November 18) in Nashville, Tenn.

For the event, Kelsea looked pretty in a pink, purple, and black tie-dyed dress.

In a recent interview promoting her new book, Kelsea opened up about her marriage to Morgan Evans and explained why they go to couples therapy.

“I swore I was never going to get married,” Kelsea shared with People while talking about her parents “super-messy and really drawn-out” divorce.

“For so long, I just viewed their marriage as their divorce,” Kelsea continued. “As I got older, I was able to have conversations with them both about their marriage, pre-divorce and realized that there was beauty there, there was love there at some point. That helped me realize that I could find that.”

In 2016, Kelsea met Morgan, a 36-year-old Australian singer-songwriter, and they married in 2017.

“Because of my parents’ divorce and the way that they loved me through it in their own ways, I have a different idea of marriage, but I would think I have a healthier idea of marriage,” Kelsea explained. “I don’t see it as a fairytale-esque, ride-off-into-the-sunset kind of thing. It’s work, but it’s worth it.”

After seeing what her parents went through, Kelsea and Morgan decided to go to therapy together to work through any issues they might have.

“We go to couples therapy all the time. We have really good couples friends that we vacation with, but we also can sit down with and have the hard conversations,” Kelsea shared. “We approach our relationship so differently, but he shows up — he shows up in every way he needs to.”
