You might remember that Jensen was in development on a Supernatural prequel series titled The Winchesters. After the news was announced, Jared expressed his disappointment that no one asked him to be part of the series, but thankfully his short-lived feud with Jensen was smoothed over very quickly.
Variety reports that The CW has given a pilot order for The Winchesters, which is “told from the perspective of narrator Dean Winchester (Ackles). The show is the untold love story of how John met Mary and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world.”
Jensen and his wife Danneel Ackles are both executive producers on the show.
Jared currently stars in The CW series Walker and he is executive producing the upcoming spinoff series Walker: Independence, which also just received a pilot order.
The prequel is “set in the late 1800s and follows Abby Walker, an affluent Bostonian whose husband is murdered before her eyes while on their journey out West. On her quest for revenge, Abby crosses paths with Hoyt Rawlins, a lovable rogue in search of purpose. Abby and Hoyt’s journey takes them to Independence, Texas, where they encounter diverse, eclectic residents running from their own troubled pasts and chasing their dreams.”
Jensen recently explained why he didn’t tell Jared about the Supernatural prequel series.
