Rockstar Confirms New 'Grand Theft Auto' Game Is in the Works

Rockstar Games is making an exciting announcement!

On Friday (February 4), the developer confirmed that a new installment of Grand Theft Auto was currently in the works.

“Many of you have been asking about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series,” Rockstar said in a statement posted to social media. “With every new project, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we’ve previously delivered. We’re pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the series is underway.”

The developer continued, “We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details. On behalf of our entire team, we thank you all for your support and cannot wait to step into the future with you!”

Rockstar did not include a release date in their announcement. The most recent game in the franchise was Grand Theft Auto V, which was released in 2013 and went on to become the second best-selling video game of all time.
