Bill Maher Downplays Jada Pinkett Smith's Alopecia After Oscars 2022 Incident

Bill Maher is addressing Will Smith and Chris Rock‘s 2022 Oscars incident.

During the Friday night (April 1) episode of his HBO talk show Real Time, the 66-year-old host shared his opinion on Will smacking Chris across the face during the awards show, choosing to go after Will‘s wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

During the Oscars last weekend, Chris made a joke about Jada‘s bald head, which prompted Will to get up on stage and smack him, before returning to his seat and yelling “Keep my wife’s name out your f–king mouth.”

If you didn’t know, Jada suffers from alopecia.

During his opening monologue, Bill minimized Jada‘s medical condition, saying, “I mean, alopecia, it’s not leukemia, OK?” Alopecia is when your hair falls out … there are worst things.”

Later in the episode, Bill admitted that he at first thought Chris crossed the line with his “G.I. Jane joke” about Jada, until he Googled alopecia and learned more about it.

“If you are so lucky in life as to have that be your medical problem, just say ‘Thanks God,’” Bill said. “It’s not life threatening. It’s part of — for most people, 80 percent of men, 50 percent of women — it’s part of aging.”

He continued, “Aging is, trust me I know, it’s the degradation of the flesh. It happens to all of us. And you know, just put on a f—king wig like everybody else at the Oscars if it bothers you so much.”

If you missed it, find out what Chris said about the incident during his first show on his comedy tour earlier this week.
