Young Thug & Gunna Indicted on Racketeering, Gang-Related Charges

Young Thug has been arrested.

Pitchfork reports that the 30-year-old rapper taken into custody on Monday (May 9) in Atlanta on charges of racketeering and street gang activity.

His arrest is part of a larger grand jury indictment that names 28 members and associates of his imprint YSL, including fellow rapper Gunna, who was charged with conspiring to violate RICO.

All 28 defendants were charged of conspiracy to violate the RICO act, while Young Thug and Gunna‘s co-defendants face charges of aggravated assault, armed robbery, drugs and weapons charges.

Yak Gotti and four others were charged in connection to the January 2015 death of Donovan Thomas, Jr., who was described by prosecutors as “a rival gang member.” Thug has also been accused of renting a car that was subsequently used “in the commission of” that murder.

Pitchfork adds that a substantial portion of the indictment are YSL-related songs, videos, social media posts, and lyrics that have been labelled “an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy.”
