Elon Musk Says He Was Drug Tested by Government After Smoking on Joe Rogan's Podcast

Elon said the reaction was “pretty nutty,” as it’s still illegal federally. And because he runs SpaceX, which has federal government contracts, the government tested him for a range of drugs afterward.

“One puff…I did get a lot of backlash because it’s still federally illegal,” he said with a laugh.

“I had to have random drug tests after that to prove I’m not a drug addict,” he continued.

He went on to clarify that it was “the federal government,” testing him, “because SpaceX has federal government contracts.”

Elon pointed out that “the SpaceX competitors were like ‘hey, why aren’t you doing anything? Look at him brazenly smoking weed on Joe Rogan‘s podcast!’”
