Michelle Branch's Domestic Assault Charge Dropped After Patrick Carney Slap Incident

Michelle Branch‘s domestic assault charge is being dropped.

The 39-year-old “Everywhere” singer, who was facing a charge of domestic assault against her husband Patrick Carney of The Black Keys, had the charge dropped at the request of the state of Tennessee on Wednesday (August 24), via People.

Authorities decided to drop the charge following her arrest earlier in the month on August 11. She was taken into custody and booked for domestic assault at the time for reportedly slapping her husband at their home in Nashville, Tenn. She was later released on $1,000 bond.

Right before the incident, Michelle tweeted and deleted that Patrick cheated on her while she was at home with their 6-month-old child.

Michelle later announced they were separating, and she filed for divorce the day after the incident.

“To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family. The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness,” she said in a statement to People.

Michelle asked to be named primary residential parent of their son Rhys, 4 this month, and daughter Willie, 6 months, and requested that her husband receive “reasonable parenting time privileges” while paying child support.

The couple got married at Marigny Opera House in New Orleans in April 2019.

All of these celebrities also announced they were splitting recently.
