Mariah said that she has more than 175 hours of footage from her studio sessions, and she’s hoping to turn those into a documentary, and than also added that she’s reteaming with Lee Daniels to develop a TV series inspired by her memoir.
It’s still in the early stages, and Mariah says there will be no problem including her music.
“I’m here to do anything we need to do. I own all my old masters,” she shared with USA Today. says.
She added, “I don’t think it’s about ‘cast the girl who sings the Mariah Carey style,’ whatever that is. It’s about casting a great actress with a somewhat similar look and just making sure the acting is there. Because we have the music – they can sing along to it.”
Mariah is the latest star to discuss owning her masters, as there was a big uproar with Taylor Swift‘s masters last year.
Since then though, many big musicians have sold their catalogues off, including Bob Dylan, Shakira and Stevie Nicks.
