'The Wire' Star Al Brown Passes Away At 83

Al Brown, former star of HBO’s The Wire, has sadly passed away.

According to TMZ, the actor played Col. Stan Valchek on the hit series opposite Dominic West, Wendell Pierce and the late Michael K. Williams, died over the weekend.

According to his daughter, Jenny, Al passed away following a battle with Alzheimer’s.

Jenny told the site that before her dad “got into acting in the ’90s, he was a 29-year-old Air Force vet who served two tours in Vietnam.”

He also “loved fans of his and was happy to stop and chat with anyone who might’ve recognized him from the show over the years.”

Al‘s manager also shared a note on Facebook about his death.

“I am sad to let you know that angels came for Al yesterday morning, Friday, January 13, 2023,” the statemen from his talent manager read, via Deadline. “May his memory be a blessing to his family, his friends, and each of you. This page will remain as a testimony to Al’s work and love for his fans.”

In addition to The Wire, Al also appeared on television shows Rescue Me and Law & Order: SVU, and movies 12 Monkeys and The Replacements.
