Sarah Michelle Gellar Explains Why She Won't Allow Her Daughter To Act While Under Her Roof

Sarah Michelle Gellar is parenting her children informed by her experience in the Hollywood industry.

The 45-year old Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress has been married to Freddie Prinze Jr. since 2002 and together they have a daughter Charlotte, 13, and son Rocky, 10.

Charlotte has already expressed wanting to follow in her parents footsteps and begin acting.

“Does it scare the s–t out of me?” Sarah asked THR. “Well, we have rules in place. She can’t be in front of a camera until she graduates high school.”

While Charlotte has joined her parents on shoots before, Sarah and Freddie have a number of rules in place to protect their children. Charlotte and Rocky are not allowed to have their own social media accounts.

Sarah has openly discussed working on unhealthy sets and at one point, thought that all sets were ruled by toxic masculinity. “While I am proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers,” she wrote in a statement in 2021, “I don’t want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon.”

In terms of the “nepo baby” discussion, Sarah only said “I’ll never stop her from being on a set…But she’s just not going on camera while she’s living under our roof. There’ll be different expectations for her, so she needs to learn everything there is first.”

Sarah stars in the upcoming show Wolf Pack but recently said that she has no desire to return to her role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
