“I was 13, in a hotel promoting the second movie, when I was told. It was a hard thing to contemplate,” he told GQ of the first major death during the films, Richard Harris. Richard portrayed Albus Dumbledore in the first 2 Harry Potter movies.

Alan portrayed Severus Snape and Robbie portrayed Hagrid.

About the late actors’ presence in his life, he said they were similar to family. “Not parents, but uncles or grandparents. They all had this kind of subconscious presence in my life.”

When Rupert made his Broadway debut in It’s Only A Play back in 2014, Alan was there in the audience.

“And Robbie, losing him was particularly tough. He really was the most wonderful being,” Rupert shared. But when asked why he didn’t attend Robbie‘s funeral, he responded, “I don’t claim to know him outside work.”

12 Harry Potter stars have tragically passed since filming ended. The ages of these stars range from the young age of 18 to 91. RIP.
