The singer and composer passed away at his home in Los Angeles due to natural causes, publicist Tina Brausam confirmed.

Burt was a multiple Academy Award and Grammy Award winner, as well as a Broadway composer.

His many hits include “Alfie,” “I Say a Little Prayer,” “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again” and “This Guy’s in Love with You.” His songs were covered by hundreds of popular artists over the decades, including Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick.

“Music softens the heart, makes you feel something if it’s good, brings in emotion that you might not have felt before. It’s a very powerful thing if you’re able to do to it, if you have it in your heart to do something like that,” he told AP in 2018.
