Pink Talks Relationship with Husband Carey Hart & Miracle Performance with Kelly Clarkson, Accepts Icon Award at iHeartRadio Music Awards 2023

Pink reflected on her at-times tumultuous relationship with husband Carey Hart and a “miracle” collaboration with Kelly Clarkson while accepting the Icon Award at the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Monday night (March 27) in Los Angeles.

The 43-year-old dominated the night inside the Dolby Theatre, opening the show with a rendition of her single “Trustfall” and returning to the stage for a duet of “Just Give Me a Reason” with the American Idol winner.

While accepting her award, she spoke candidly about what the moment meant to her, her career and the importance of being vulnerable. She also revealed how the ups and downs with Carey helped her.

“It has been said that miracles are often associated with icons,” Pink said while onstage. “Kelly Clarkson singing with me, and Pat Benatar singing one of my songs, two of the greatest voices alive, being on stage, doing what I love with people that I love with all of my heart — and my babies in the audience — this feels like a Christmas miracle.”

If you missed it, her children Willow and Jameson joined her on the red carpet outside the event and were there cheering her on for the rest of the ceremony.

Saying that she tries “to joke or be self-deprecating” while recognizing her accomplishments, Pink decided to “be a better friend to myself tonight” during the speech.

Speaking about her artistry, she emphasized the importance of vulnerability.

“Every room I walk into, my heart walks in first. Every lyric that I write is my heart crying, raging hoping, screaming, pleading,” she explained. “You have watched me do this, sifting through life’s messiness for almost 25 years. Some of you find what I do annoying, and some of you find it brave, and I just find it necessary.”

She continued, saying, “Vulnerability means the ability to be wounded. I have decided to make vulnerability my life’s work, and for those of you that have joined me on this adventure, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

After shouting out her children, Pink shifted focus to Carey where she spoke candidly about their time together.

“If he loved me perfectly I would have nothing to say,” she opined.
