Stanley Tucci Reveals Why He Almost Ended Things with Now-Wife Felicity Blunt at Start of Their Relationship

Stanley Tucci is looking back at the beginning of his relationship with now-wife Felicity Blunt.

In a new interview, the 62-year-old Oscar-nominated actor revealed that he almost broke up with Felicity, 42, shortly after they started dating.

“I was afraid to get into a relationship and I kept trying to break it off because I am 21 years older than she is and I didn’t want to feel old for the rest of my life,” Stanley admitted on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs podcast. “But I knew this was an incredibly special person.”

Before marrying Felicity, Stanley was married to Kate Spath-Tucci, with whom he shares three kids – 23-year-old twins Nicolo and Isabel and daughter Camila, 21. Kate died 2009 of breast cancer.

Stanley first met Felicity in 2006 at the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada. Felicity is the sister of his co-star Emily Blunt.

“[Felicity] and Kate talked a lot that night,” Stanley recalled from the premiere.

After Kate‘s death, Stanley reconnected with Felicity at Emily and John Krasinski‘s wedding in 2010.

After tying the knot in 2012, Stanley and Felicity welcomed son Matteo, 8, and daughter Emilia, 5.

“Felicity has been so incredible taking on a widower and three children whose mother died. That’s a huge thing, at a very young age too,” Stanley shared. “If anybody made things better for all of us, it’s her. She’s the one.”

In an interview from earlier this year, Stanley opened up about his own battle with cancer.
