Ashton Kutcher & Mila Kunis Address Backlash for Writing Letters of Support for Danny Masterson

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are responding to all of the backlash they’re facing for writing letters of support for Danny Masterson.

It was recently revealed the couple wrote letters about their former That ’70s Show co-star’s character before a judge sentenced Danny to 30 years in prison after he was convicted on two counts of forcible rape.

In their letters, Ashton and Mila called Danny “a role model” and a “positive influence” in their lives.

After their support letters were made public, many slammed Ashton and Mila for supporting a now-convicted rapist.

On Saturday (September 9), Ashton and Mila released a video explaining why they wrote the letters.

“We are aware of the pain that has been caused by the character letters we wrote on behalf of Danny Masterson,” Ashton started.

“We support victims,” Mila said. “We have done this historically through our work and will continue to do so in the future.”

Ashton continued, “A couple months ago, Danny’s family reached out to us and they asked us to write character letters to represent the person that we knew for 25 years so that the judge could take that into full consideration of the sentencing.”

“The letters were not written to question the legitimacy of the judicial system or the validity of the jury’s ruling,” Mila explained.

“They were intended for the judge to read,” Ashton added. “And not to undermine the testimonies of the victims or re-traumatize them in any way. We would never want to do that. And we are sorry if that has taken place.”

“Our heart goes out to every single person that has ever been a victim of sexual assault, sexual abuse or rape,” Mila concluded.

Fellow That ’70s Show cast member Topher Grace‘s wife Ashley recently reacted to Danny‘s sentencing.Topher did not write a letter of support for Danny.
