VIDEO: Denzel Washington Helps Celebrate His Childhood Librarian's 99th Birthday!
Denzel Washington just made his childhood librarian’s dream come true!
The 61-year-old actor first met Miss Connie Mauro when he was seven-years-old when she worked as a librarian at the Mount Vernon Public Library in New York.
As Connie prepared to celebrate her 99th birthday back in November, the staff of the assisted living facility where she lives in Georgia reached out to Denzel to see if he would would surprise her on her birthday, CBS News reports.
Due to his schedule, Denzel wasn’t able to make it, but he did call Connie on her birthday!
“You were the cutest kid! I loved you,” Connie told Denzel on the phone. “You were my special library boy.”
“You don’t know how much you helped me. You helped me so much,” Denzel responded.
Denzel then promised Connie that he would come visit next time he was in Georgia – and he did!
