'Succession' Ends With Series Finale on HBO: Here's Who Took Over Waystar Royco (SPOILERS!)

Succession has officially come to an end on HBO with its 90-minute series finale.

The show wrapped up after just four seasons, with the reveal of just which of Logan Roy’s children would take over his company, Waystar Royco.

In the final moments, it’s revealed that its not Kendall, Roman or Shiv, or even cousin Greg, who takes over and is named CEO of the company.

Rather, it’s Tom, who is Shiv’s husband.

The story kicks off just a day before the decision is made, with Shiv believing that she would be the one named to the position of American CEO. However, its not meant to be.

While having dinner with Tom, Matsson reveals that he doesn’t have any interest in Shiv or her ideas, and Tom gracefully accepts it, while also learning that he is the alternative for the role.

As this is happening, Shiv has gathered with her brothers, Roman and Kendall, at their mother’s Caribbean home.

This is also where Kendall learns about Matsson’s decision to distance himself from Shiv and decides to share the news with his sister. Reluctantly, Shiv and Roman agree to align themselves with Kendall as their leader.

Upon their return to New York for the decisive vote, the siblings reunite with older half brother Connor, where he’s in the process of selling their father’s belongings. After watching a home video from Logan, Tom tells Shiv that in place of her as CEO, it’s him instead.

When the time arrives to cast their votes, a deadlock occurs with a six-to-six tie, with Shiv holding the deciding vote. As she debates who to vote for, she knows its in the best interest to support Tom.

Kendall is obviously devastated and results in a moment where the three siblings are doing everything to tear each other apart by bringing up a death at her wedding, kids that may or may not be illegitimate and more. This leads to Roman and Kendall engaging in a physical altercation, before she makes her final decision and votes in favor of Tom.

As the episode come to a close, Shiv is seen leaving in a private car with Tom. Ther series also comes to a close showing that Roman is alone at a bar, sipping a martini and Kendall sits on a bench in park, just staring out as the sun sets.
