Alec Baldwin to Star in NBC's 'A Few Good Men' Live

Alec Baldwin is set to star in NBC’s live version of the hit drama A Few Good Men in the role of Col. Nathan Jessep.

The role of Jessep was made famous by Jack Nicholson in the 1992 film which also starred Tom Cruise and Demi Moore.

Alec Baldwin is the gift that keeps on giving at NBC, and we’re excited to have him starring in Aaron Sorkin‘s towering work as we expand our live theater imprint beyond musicals,” Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment, said in a statement (via Deadline). “No stranger to live television, Alec is the most multi-faceted actor in the world and his range is incomparable. He will put his own inimitable stamp on the role of Col. Jessep in a play that is still as surprising and relevant as ever, from one of the most gifted writers working today.”

The drama, written by Aaron Sorkin, will debut in 2018 and will be NBC’s first live drama in over 50 years. NBC has plans for two more live musicals: Jesus Christ Superstar on Easter Sunday and Bye Bye Birdie starring Jennifer Lopez.

'A Few Good Men' Live Drama To Debut on NBC Next Year!

A Few Good Men, the 1992 film written by Aaron Sorkin, will be staged as a live-drama for NBC!

NBC has reportedly set the drama to debut in early 2017, with no casting announced. A Few Good Men originally debuted on Broadway in 1989, and then was made into the 1992 film starring Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, and Jack Nicholson. Aaron will be involved in this new incarnation.

“I am thrilled that Aaron Sorkin is coming back to NBC to adapt and produce a live broadcast of his electrifying play ‘A Few Good Men,’ which seems as timely as ever today,” Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment, said in a statement (via Variety). “Aaron is one of the most acclaimed theater, television and film authors of our time, and I am pleased that the live event business that we pioneered with musicals is now expanding into other genres and attracting artists of his caliber. I look forward to his collaboration with out ‘A-team’ producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, to bring another exciting piece of live drama to a broad audience.”
