The new musical Be More Chill is now open on Broadway and the cast stepped out to celebrate following the opening night performance on Sunday (March 10) in New York City.

The show’s four leads – Jason Tam, Stephanie Hsu, Will Roland, and George Salazar – gathered for a group photo on the red carpet at the after party at Gotham Hall.

The actors were joined by their co-stars Gerard Canonico, Katlyn Carlson, Tiffany Mann, Lauren Marcus, Britton Smith, and Jason SweetTooth Williams. The show’s swings also stepped out for the party. Joining the cast at the event were composer Joe Iconis, book writer Joe Tracz, director Stephen Brackett, producer Jennifer Ashley Tepper, musical supervisor Charlie Rosen, music copyist Danielle Gimbal, and more.

Be More Chill is running now at the Lyceum Theatre!

Stephanie Hsu is currently starring on Broadway in the new musical Be More Chill and we caught up with the actress to learn more about her!

The musical had its first production in 2015 and Stephanie has been tied to the role of Christine Canigula since its inception. In the time since then, she also originated the role of Karen The Computer in Broadway’s SpongeBob SquarePants musical.

Be More Chill will have its official opening night this weekend!

The new Broadway musical Be More Chill is now in previews and the producers have released some first look photos from the show!

Will Roland, Jason Tam, Stephanie Hsu, George Salazar, and more are featured in the new production shots.

The musical began preview performances last week and it broke the seven-performance house record at the Lyceum Theatre. The show grossed $738,384 and nearly sold out the whole week of shows.

The previous seven-performance record for the Lyceum was set back in 2008 by Patrick Stewart‘s Macbeth. That show grossed $584,033 in that week.

The new musical Be More Chill is making its long-awaited debut on Broadway TONIGHT (February 13) and we caught up with breakout star George Salazar to learn more about him!

The 32-year-old actor, who was previously seen on Broadway in Godspell, plays the character Michael and sings the showstopping number “Michael in the Bathroom” in the second act.

George originated the role of Michael in the 2015 world premiere and the cast recording from that production became a viral sensation. As he mentions in the 10 Fun Facts below, George has already sung “Michael in the Bathroom” hundreds of times ahead of the show’s debut on Broadway!

Preview performances begin tonight and the official opening is scheduled for March 10. Learn more about George below:

• 1. I’ve been a drummer longer than I’ve been an actor.
• 2. My original plan was to be a neurosurgeon. Switched majors from Biology to Musical Theater after getting accepted to college. Very glad I did that — no brain matter on my hands in the theater, honey!
• 3. My least favorite survival job was working at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company but only because I discovered I was allergic to shrimp while working there.
• 4. My favorite day job was working at the Back to the Future ride at Universal Studios Orlando when I was the nerdiest kid in high school.

Be More Chill is one of the most successful musicals in recent memory and it hasn’t even been on Broadway yet!

The show became a cult-hit thanks to the internet after fans discovered the original cast recording on Spotify and streamed it over 200 million times to date.

Be More Chill had a sold-out off-Broadway run this year and it will open on Broadway this winter. Preview performances begin on February 13 and the official opening night is March 10.
