At the event, Brandy and Kelly announced that they will headline two new series on BET’s 2015 slate, according to Deadline.

Brandy, 36, will play a single mom embarking on a new life and career as a fledgling cosmetics mogul in romantic comedy Zoe Moon while Kelly searches for “the next big female superstar group to make their mark in a dog-eat-dog music industry” in reality series Chasing Destiny.

Brandy rocks her signature braids as she returns to her car after her workout at a local gym on Sunday afternoon (January 4) in Calabasas, Calif.

The 35-year-old entertainer also made sure to grab some froyo with a friend at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt before heading their separate ways.

Brandy is currently gearing up for the eighth season premiere of her hit BET show, The Game, which returns on Wednesday (January 14) at 10pm ET.

“Just 9 more days until our premiere! Who’s ready for ‪#‎TheGameBET‬!?,” Brandy shared on her Twitter account.

Brandy shares a super sweet moment with her daughter Sy’rai in a selfie posted on her Instagram on Sunday (December 28).

“#happysunday from me and my one and only!,” the 35-year-old entertainer captioned along with the pic. “#syraiandmommy.”

That same day, Brandy was all smiles as she happily loaded her car with groceries after doing a bit of shopping at Ralph’s in Calabasas, Calif.

Singer Brandy and her fiance Ryan Press have called off their engagement, Us Weekly reports.

“They are no longer together. The engagement is off, but the friendship is still on,” a rep for the singer said in a statement. “They decided to take a step back and reevaluate the relationship, Brandy is 35 now — that’s what her whole #35 on Twitter is about, becoming her own woman.”

“Brandy has a daughter and she still wants to be married and have more kids but she is working on so many other things right now,” the rep added. “They haven’t ended things on a bad note and they still speak all the time.”

Brandy and Ryan, a music executive, became engaged in 2012.

Sleepy Hollow‘s Nicole Beharie, The Mindy Project‘s Xosha Roquemore, and The Walking Dead‘s Danai Gurira hit the carpet at the 2014 Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon held at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Thursday afternoon (February 27) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The ladies were joined at the event by Brandy, David Oyelowo, Garcelle Beauvais, Tika Sumpter, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Common, and Orange is the New Black‘s Danielle Brooks.
