'Buffy's Spike Actor James Marsters Says He's 'Heartbroken' to Learn About Charisma Carpenter's Abuse Claims

Another Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast member is breaking their silence on the alleged abuse that happened on set of their show.

James Marsters, who played Spike on Buffy, took to his Instagram on Friday (February 12) to send support to former co-star Charisma Carpenter after she came forward with allegations of abuse and misconduct against show creator Joss Whedon.

“While I will always be honored to have played the character of Spike, the Buffy set was not without challenges,” the 58-year-old actor wrote. “I do not support abuse of any kind, and am heartbroken to learn of the experiences of some of the cast. I send my love and support to all involved.”

Amid the ongoing controversy, Buffy fans are calling out these two former cast members for not publicly addressing the situation.

Fans Urge David Boreanaz To Speak Out In Support of Charisma Carpenter After Her Claims Against Joss Whedon

Fans are calling out David Boreanaz to say anything in regards to the allegations against Joss Whedon from his longtime Angel and Buffy co-star Charisma Carpenter.

Earlier this week, the 50-year-old actress accused Joss of on set abuse and misconduct.

Many of her Buffy peers, including Sarah Michelle Gellar and Michelle Trachtenberg, have made statements in support of her. However, David has been notably silent, as pointed out by many fans.

“There is a responsibility here to stand up for what’s right and I’d always seen him do so. So why not this time?” one fan mused on Twitter about the situation. “He does have a responsibility to his cast mates and the fans. It’s worrying to see him delete his posts too. Now I feel like there’s more to the story.”

While his Twitter has been protected for quite some time, fans did notice that David had wiped almost all of his Instagram, save for one photo of his father, Dave Roberts.

“interesting response from david boreanaz ! deleting all your insta posts to magnify your silence is a new one ! cool one bro !” one fan called the SEAL Team actor out on Twitter.

While many fans are mad at David for not saying anything, they’re also calling out Alyson Hannigan for her silence as well.

Charisma is still getting a lot of support from her past Buffy and Angel co-stars, and thanking them all for being in her corner.

Eliza Dushku Sends Support to 'Buffy' Co-Star Charisma Carpenter Amid Joss Whedon Allegations

Eliza Dushku is the latest Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast member to come forward with a message of support for Charisma Carpenter.

Earlier this week, Charisma came forward with allegations of on set abuse and misconduct against Joss Whedon, who created the hit WB series along with the spinoff series Angel.

Now, Eliza, who played Faith on both shows, took to Instagram on Thursday (February 11) to praise Charisma for sharing her story.

“CC, my heart aches for you and I’m so sorry you have held this for so long,” Eliza wrote. “Your post was powerful, painful, and painted a picture we’ll collectively never un-see or un-know.”

Eliza worked with Joss on both Buffy and Angel along with another show Dollhouse. She says that she didn’t know about his alleged abuse of power towards Charisma.

“I frequently think of the saying, ‘We are as sick as our secrets.’ Our secrets indeed make and keep us sick,” Eliza continued. “What I’m learning more and more – and have personally found most valuable – is that profound healing can only from naming and disclosing what actually happened, the necessary first step (once someone’s ready) to freeing ourselves from our secrets, untold truths which have kept us isolated, ashamed, and held hostage.”

Eliza added, “Neglecting to ‘name’ the power/gender/sexual/racial abuse epidemic in the entertainment industry (and for that matter society in general), enables the abusers and only emboldens and ultimately fortifies abusive systems.”

Eliza concluded her message with sending support to Charisma and other victims of abuse.

“May you and countless others feel the solidarity and connection you have likely missed for too long,” Eliza wrote. “From courage, come change and hope. It starts and will end because of courageous truth-tellers like you. I admire, respect, and love you.”

Another Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress recently revealed that Joss Whedon wasn’t allowed to be alone with her on set.

Ray Fisher Says To Protect Charisma Carpenter At All Costs Following Her Claims Against Joss Whedon

Ray Fisher is standing and supporting Charisma Carpenter following her claims of abuse she was subject to from Joss Whedon.

The Justice League actor took to Twitter and called on fans to protect the former Buffy and Angel star at all costs.

“I am forever grateful for her courage and for her lending her voice to the Justice League investigation,” Ray wrote. “Read her truth. Share her truth. Protect her at all costs. ‘It is time.’ A>E #IStandWithCharisma.”

If you missed it, Charisma opened up about the abuse she was subject to from Joss on both of the teen series sets.

“The disturbing incidents triggered a chronic physical condition from which I still suffer. It is with a beating, heavy heart that I say I coped in isolation and, at times, destructively. Last summer, when Ray Fisher publicly accused Joss of abusive and unprofessional behavior toward the cast and crew during reshoots on the Justice League set in 2017, it gutted me. Joss has a history of being casually cruel. He has created hostile and toxic work environments since his early career. I know because I experienced it first-hand. Repeatedly,” Charisma posted in a lengthy statement.

After her statement, fellow Buffy stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Michelle Trachtenberg spoke out about the claims and supported her.

Buffy's Charisma Carpenter Accuses Joss Whedon of On Set Misconduct, Reveals Her Story of Bullying, Shaming, & Toxicity

Actress Charisma Carpenter, who portrayed Cordelia Chase in the drama series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the spin-off series Angel, is standing with Ray Fisher and sharing her experience with Joss Whedon.

Ray came forward several months ago and accused Joss of abusive treatment on the Justice League set when he took over for Zack Synder.

Charisma released her statement about Joss‘ behavior on the Buffy set.

“For nearly two decades, I have held my tongue and even made excuses for certain events that traumatize me to this day. Joss Whedon abused his power on numerous occasions while working together on the sets of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. While he found his misconduct amusing, it only served to intensify my performance anxiety, disempower me, and alienate me from my peers. The disturbing incidents triggered a chronic physical condition from which I still suffer. It is with a beating, heavy heart that I say I coped in isolation and, at times, destructively. 'Angel' Cast Reunites - See the Stars of the 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Spinoff Series After 20 Years!

The cast of Angel reunites for their 20th anniversary on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, our on Friday (June 21).

Here’s what David Boreanaz, Charisma Carpenter, Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof, J. August Richards, James Marsters, as well as Buffy creator Joss Whedon and writer David Greenwalt had to say…

Joss Whedon, on the show’s concept: “We started talking in terms of redemption. We realized while Buffy is about the hero’s journey — that ‘becoming the person you are’ that happens in adolescence — Angel is about dealing with the person you’ve been.”

David Boreanaz, on being first called to meet about the spinoff and thinking he was getting fired: “I think we started talking about the Grateful Dead. “Then he’s like, ‘Yeah, we’re thinking about spinning your character off.’ And I’m like ‘alright.’”

Joss Whedon, on the series finale: “I understand why people would want closure, but for me, that would be like adding a cliff note to the end. What I always wanted to say is trying to become worthy of the life that you have, is a life’s work. The fight is for always.”

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Cast Weighs in on Revival (Video)

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast is speaking out about a possible reunion!

Stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan, James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter, and creator Joss Whedon all shared their thoughts in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“At a certain point, when things are magical, you don’t want to go back and Godfather III it, right?” Sarah joked. “I’m sure the fans are incredibly disappointed to hear that answer, but I think they’d be more disappointed if we created something and it didn’t live up to the expectation because the expectation is so incredibly high. And I love that it can live in comic form and graphic novels. There are so many worlds it can live in.”

“I think we should do the Buffy cartoon,” Alyson added, while James chimed in, “I think if Joss is helming it, then hell yeah. If not, then hell no.”

“I think the fans would just go crazy if something like that would happen,” Charisma shared. “It would just make so many people happy.”
