According to Variety, the limited series is set at a high school reunion afterparty. Each episode will feature a retelling of the same night told through a different character’s perspective, each with its own unique visual format and film genre to match the teller’s personality.

Dave will play Xavier, once a dorky high school drama student, now a famous pop star and actor.

The series will also star Sam Richardson, Zoe Chao, Ben Schwartz, Ike Barinholtz, Ilana Glazer, Jamie Demetriou, and John Early.

Dave has a lot to celebrate this summer: his horror movie, The Rental, is at the top spot of the box office for a second weekend in a row. Due to the pandemic, drive-ins continued to lead at the box office, with a majority of the top 160 locations this weekend belonging to car venues. The Rental follows two couples who rent a vacation home for what should be a celebratory weekend get-away, and stars Dave‘s wife Alison Brie, Dan Stevens, Jeremy Allen White and Sheila Vand.

“What’s amazing here is that this is arguably the second time during the massive exhibition pandemic shutdown that a new release after Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls World Tour, has topped the weekend box office. More amazingly, it’s an indie movie,” the outlet reported.

“I have been truly fortunate to have a partner in IFC Films whose agility and creativity during this time has allowed us to have this incredible moment for our film. As a first time filmmaker, I’m beyond grateful to the audiences who supported us this weekend,” Dave said in a statement.

A majority of that is from drive-in theaters, which continue to be the leading exhibitors at the weekend box office.

The movie stars Dave‘s wife, Alison Brie.

Here’s a movie synopsis: Two couples on an oceanside getaway grow suspicious that the host of their seemingly perfect rental house may be spying on them. Before long, what should have been a celebratory weekend trip turns into something far more sinister, as well-kept secrets are exposed and the four old friends come to see each other in a whole new light.

Dave Franco Will Play a Young Vanilla Ice In A New Movie

Dave Franco is stepping into the role of a rapper in a new movie.

The 35-year-old actor and filmmaker will be playing Vanilla Ice in an upcoming flick, titled To The Extreme.

Dave spoke to Insider about his upcoming role in the biopic, saying that “we have been in development for a while but we are inching closer and closer to preproduction.”

He adds that the movie will be much like The Disaster Artist, which was directed by Dave‘s brother, James.

“With [The Disaster Artist], people expected us to make a broad comedy where we make fun of [The Room director] Tommy Wiseau, but the more real we played it, the funnier and heartfelt it was — that’s the tone we want for this one as well,” he shared.

Dave also spoke about speaking to Vanilla Ice – whose real name is Rob Van Winkle – regularly about the movie.

“Rob is such a sweet and intelligent guy and he’s been super helpful in the process of getting all the details correct and making us privy to information the public doesn’t know,” he shared. “Just talking to him I can’t help but think about the rabbit holes I’m going to go down to get ready for the role.”

The logline for the movie reads: From a high school dropout selling cars in Dallas to having the first hip-hop single to top the Billboard charts with ‘Ice Ice Baby,’ a young Vanilla Ice struggles with stardom, extortion attempts and selling out as he makes music history.

Just recently, Vanilla Ice ran into some controversy when he decided to do this during the pandemic.
