'Hannibal' Canceled By NBC After Three Seasons

Hannibal has been canceled by NBC after three seasons on the air.

The critically acclaimed series, starring Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, and Laurence Fishburne, served as a prequel to the movie The Silence of the Lambs.

“NBC has allowed us to craft a television series that no other broadcast network would have dared, and kept us on the air for three seasons despite Cancellation Bear Chow ratings and images that would have shredded the eyeballs of lesser Standards & Practices enforcers,” executive producer Bryan Fuller said in a statement. “Jen Salke and her team have been fantastic partners and creatively supportive beyond measure. Hannibal is finishing his last course at NBC’s table this summer, but a hungry cannibal can always dine again. And personally, I look forward to my next meal with NBC.”

NBC Cancels 'Community' & 'Revolution,' Renews 'Hannibal' & 'About a Boy'

NBC has officially renewed Hannibal and About a Boy, Deadline reports.

However, the network did also deliver some sad news. Revolution, the JJ Abrams/Eric Kripke drama, will unfortunately not be getting a third season. Community will also not be returning after five seasons on the air. Community is a fan favorite show, and will certainly cause some blowback. Jamie Chung‘s Believe also did not make the cut.

About a Boy has been averaging a 2.4 rating in adults 18-49 and 8.3 million viewers, so it was no surprise that the show got a second season.

Hannibal has been doing okay in the ratings, and will premiere its third season next year.

WHAT DO YOU THINK of all the pickups and renewals??
