Sia‘s new movie Music, which is available to rent on demand, has caused a lot of controversy in recent weeks and the film is still trending.

Last week, a Twitter thread was written by an account called @Autisticats and they called out the movie for the offensive way autistic people were portrayed.

One week after the thread went live, it has been retweeted over 31,000 times, quote tweeted over 6,000 times, and liked by more than 96,000 people.

“I’m watching Sia’s movie, in order to write a detailed & chronological review (so that nobody else watches it out of curiosity). But for now, I just want the public to see a few things that speak for themselves, starting with this image,” the account said along with an image of star Maddie Ziegler‘s facial expression in one scene.

The film received two nominations for the 2021 Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical and one for Kate Hudson‘s performance.

Amid the backlash that she received for the movie, Sia deleted her Twitter account and released an apology statement.

Sia made an allegation against Shia LaBeouf after FKA twigs filed her lawsuit against him for abuse and sexual battery.

Back in December of 2020, Sia said, “I too have been hurt emotionally by Shia, a pathological liar, who conned me into an adulterous relationship claiming to be single.”

Sia added, “I believe he’s very sick and have compassion for him AND his victims.”

In a new interview with The Sunday Times, published Sunday (February 14), Sia elaborated, “It turns out he was using the same lines on me and Twigsy, and eventually we found out because we ended up talking to one another,” she explained. “Both of us thought we were singly dating him. But that wasn’t the case. And he was still married.” Shia was reportedly married to actress Mia Goth.

She added that Shia said, he “wanted to marry me and live a sober life.” Sia then added, “I feel like I’m always gonna love him because he’s such a sick puppy.”

Sia has released her eighth studio album, which features songs from and inspired by her new movie Music.

The 14 track album features songs inspired by the film, as well as Sia’s interpretations of songs from the musical movie. Included on the album are recent singles “Together,” “Courage to Change,” “Saved My Life,” “Hey Boy,” and “Floating Through Space.”

Sia made her directorial debut on the controversial new movie, which recently was nominated for two Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. The film is now available to rent on demand.

In a recent message to fans, Sia apologized for the way autistic people are depicted in the movie and said that the film would include a warning at the beginning.

She has since deleted her Twitter account amid the controversy.

Sia is tightening up her social media presence.

The “Chandelier” singer deleted her Twitter account as of Thursday (February 4) following controversy surrounding her Golden Globe-nominated film Music, which features Maddie Ziegler portraying a character with autism.

The film was nominated for Best Motion Picture -Musical or Comedy and Kate Hudson received a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Despite the awards show nominations, there has been backlash on social media regarding the movie’s portrayal of autism, as well as Sia‘s response to the criticism. There is also a clip from the movie that’s gone viral on social media, which features Kate‘s character using a dangerous type of restraint on Maddie‘s character.

“MUSIC doesn’t just promote harmful stereotypes about autistic people ― it shows restraints that have killed members of our community as necessary and loving acts. This film should never have been made, and it shouldn’t be shown,” Zoe Gross, director of advocacy at the Autistic Self Advocacy Network said in a press release.

In since-deleted tweets, Sia addressed the response again and said she’s “been listening” to criticism.

“I promise, have been listening. The motion picture MUSIC will, moving forward, have this warning at the head of the movie: MUSIC in no way condones or recommends the use of restraint on autistic people. There are autistic occupational therapists that specialize in sensory processing who can be consulted to explain safe ways to provide proprioceptive, deep-pressure feedback to help w meltdown safety,” she wrote.

She also said she intends to delete the restraint scenes, adding that she listened to the “wrong people” in her research for the film.

Communication First, a group run by and for nonspeaking people with disabilities, stated that Sia’s team “reached out and briefly engaged” with it “before restraint scenes from the film were leaked” on social media, and communication ended after “a committee of nonspeaking and autistic people were invited to screen the film last week,” making additional recommendations.

“MUSIC’s restraint scenes will undoubtedly cause harm to autistic people. Because many autistic people have experienced restraint, some will be traumatized by watching the film” said Tauna Szymanski, executive director of Communication First.

The film will premiere in select Imax theaters for one-night only on February 10, and then be released on premium video-on-demand platforms on February 12.

Sia is breaking her silence about the controversies surrounding her upcoming movie, Music.

The film got a lot of backlash from fans after they realized the 45-year-old singer had cast Maddie Ziegler as an autistic teen.

Now, Sia has opened up to fans on Twitter and says that ahead of the movie, there will be a disclaimer on screen.

Here’s a synopsis of the movie: Zu (Kate Hudson) is newly sober when she receives news that she is to become the sole guardian of her half-sister named Music (Ziegler), a young girl on the autism spectrum. The film explores two of Sia’s favorite themes: finding your voice and creating family.

Sia is opening up about feeling protective of her frequent collaborator Maddie Ziegler.

The 45-year-old singer-songwriter got candid about her experience with fame in a new episode of Sirius XM‘s Fierce: Women in Music on Friday (January 29).

“I had to just learn really, really good boundaries,” the “Chandelier” singer explained.

“And now I’m really good at it and if somebody wants to say hello I’m totally comfortable with that, if they want to take a photo it depends on what the situation is but I’m either totally comfortable doing that or I’ll say actually I don’t want anyone to know that we’re here, so how about a hug.”

Sia also said that she is “fiercely protective” of Maddie. “I provide her 24 hour security because I feel responsible for her ensuing fame,” she shared.

She revealed that often she will decline photos on Maddie‘s behalf if she gets the sense the former Dance Moms star is feeling overwhelmed.

“I can tell from Maddie‘s face whether she wants to do it or she doesn’t,” Sia said. “And so I either say, ‘No, you know, we’re not supposed to be in town’ or ‘We’re not doing photos today’ or ‘Actually we’re just having some family time.’”

However, Sia also added that she believes Maddie is “much better at being famous” than she is.

Sia came under scrutiny recently for casting Maddie as an autistic character in her upcoming film Music – she defended her choice in a series of tweets.
