Last night’s Glee was nothing short of intense as they tackled one of the most topical, controversial issues to-date.

McKinley High is seemingly changed forever as shots were fired inside the school and – spoiler alert – Sue (Jane Lynch) took the fall.

Actor Jacob Artist may be a Glee newbie, but he’s quickly rose to leading man status this season with his portrayal as the other bad boy Puckerman.

JJ caught up with Jacob to talk about filming such a dramatic episode, as well as what’s coming up for his character Jake in these final few episodes.

Jacob Artist suits up for his fashion feature in Da Man magazine‘s April/May issue.

Here is what the 20-year-old Glee actor had to share with the mag:

On finding out he was cast on Glee: “I was actually sitting down for dinner with a group of friends when I got the phone call. Unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone until the next day, so I had to contain all this overwhelming excitement. It was probably the best acting I’ve ever done in my life because not one of my friends could tell something was up.”

On if he is a ladies man like his character: “I don’t think anyone can be more of a ladies’ man than Jake Puckerman. If only I had that kind of game when I was in high school! Girls probably would have returned my phone calls more frequently.”

On shooting The Philosophers in Indonesia: “It was my first time ever overseas and it was hands down one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Just being in a brand new country with 20 other kids my age and experiencing that all together for the first time was so special. Those are the memories I’ll be telling my grandkids about.”

This week’s episode of Glee has been garnering a lot of buzz around the web over the past few days after series creator Ryan Murphy called it the “most powerful, emotional” episode yet.

“Just saw the rough cut of next week’s “Shooting Star”. It is the most powerful emotional Glee ever. So proud of the cast & crew,” Ryan tweeted.

In the episode, the New Directions members continue to prepare for the Regionals competition, but something “unthinkable” happens at school.

Bonnie Wright and Jacob Artist meet up on the red carpet at the 2013 Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party held at the Pacific Design Center on Sunday (February 24) in West Hollywood, Calif.

The 22-year-old Harry Potter actress and the 20-year-old Glee actor both attended parties on Oscars night for the first time!

“1st time in LA for the Oscars…. these three letters aren’t even enough but – wow!” Bonnie tweeted.

Jenna Elfman (with husband Bodhi Elfman) and Nia Vardalos (with husband Ian Gomez) were also in attendance at the party.

FYI: Jacob is wearing head-to-toe Armani. Nia is carrying a Daniel Swarovski clutch.

Lea Michele keeps it bright while attending the Fox All-Star Party during the 2013 TCA Winter Press Tour at The Langham Huntington Hotel and Spa on Tuesday (January 8) in Pasadena, Calif.

The 26-year-old actress was joined by her Glee co-stars Melissa Benoist, Jenna Ushkowitz, Naya Rivera, Kevin McHale, Jane Lynch, Jacob Artist, and Alex Newell.
