Ian Somerhalder is opening up about Donald Trump being elected the next President of the United States.

“What happened last Tuesday is a very big wake up call,” the 37-year-old Vampire Diaries star expressed at the 2016 WildAid Gala held on Saturday (November 12) at The Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco. “Effectively if we want to change anything in regards to environment, species or habitat conservation we now more than ever have to find the sound economics of conservation, regarding environment and species. As a populist, we’re never going to change anything without each other.”

Ian was joined by his wife Nikki Reed as well as John Corbett at the event, where he was honored with the prestigious Wildlife Champion Award, past recipients of which include Sir Paul McCartney and actress Maggie Q.

The 32-year-old actor-writer-executive producer was joined at the event by his co-stars Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Stanfield and Zazie Beetz, as well as writer/executive producer Paul Simms and producer/director Hiro Murai.

“The thesis with this show was to show people what it’s like to be black, and you can’t write that down. You have to feel it,” Donald expressed (via IndieWire). “The tonal aspect was really important to me.”

Keri Russell dresses up her baby bump in black at the season four premiere of The Americans on Saturday (March 5) in New York City.

The 39-year-old pregnant actress was joined by her beau and co-star Matthew Rhys, as well as fellow actors on the show Margo Martindale, Holly Taylor, Costa Ronin, Noah Emmerich, Annet Mahendru, and Keidrich Sellati. Frankie Grande and John Corbett also stepped out to show their support!
