Pitch Perfect 2 opened to a massive $70.3 million at this weekend’s box office!
According to THR, the comedy sequel, starring Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Hailee Steinfeld, and more, already grossed more than the first Pitch Perfect did for its entire domestic run ($65 million).
Coming in at No. 2 was Mad Max: Fury Road, starring Charlize Theron, Tom Hardy, and Nicholas Hoult, which opened to an impressive $44.4 million.
Taking the third spot was Avengers: Age of Ultron, starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, and Scarlett Johansson, which made an additional $38.8 million to bring its domestic total to $372 million.
Rounding out the top five were Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara‘s Hot Pursuit, and Paul Blart Mall Cop 2, which grossed $5.8 million and $3.6 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, I’ll See You in My Dreams, a comedy starring Blythe Danner, opened in limited release to $49,340 from three theaters for an average of $16,447.
