New 'Power Rangers' Reboot in the Works With Paramount

Power Rangers is headed back to theaters once again!

This time, Paramount Pictures is teaming up with Jonathan Entwistle to take on the ’90s TV series.

The show, which has been turned into a film in 1995 and 2017, follows a group of kids who become superheroes with color-coordinated outfits and helmets.

According to THR, the upcoming reboot will “involve a time-travel element that brings the kids to the 1990s and…they have to find a way to get back to their present.”

There’s no word yet on when the film will begin production.

Dacre Montgomery Confirms He Won't Be in Future 'Power Rangers' Movie

Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery has confirmed that he won’t reprise his role of Jason, the Red Ranger in future Power Rangers movies.

In addition, Dacre confirmed that the other Rangers stars – Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Ludi Lin, and Becky G – will also not be back.

A fan asked Dacre Montgomery in a Reddit AMA if he would be involved in future movies, to which he responded, “I think there is a [Power Rangers] movie in the works but it’s not with me and the cast. So yes [a new Power Rangers movie will happen], but not with us.”

There was some big sequel news years ago and you can get the scoop about future Power Rangers movies right here.

'Power Rangers' Sequel Could Feature Female Green Ranger!

Future sequels to the Power Rangers movie could be featuring a female Green Power Ranger!

In the TV series, the Green Ranger is known as Tommy Oliver, who is male.

“A lot of the cast and I have discussed that we think it should be a girl. It makes it even: three girls, three boys,” director Dean Israelite told THR. “It’s left blank. It’s a cliff-hanger. Whoever you’re going to drop into that position – whether it’s a girl – it’s inevitably going to create drama. It’ll be interesting to drop that drama into it and see how we all relate to it and work with it.”

The end-credits scene of the film teases the debut of the Green Ranger, though doesn’t make mention of the sex of the character.

The 'Power Rangers' Cast Give Back in Big Ways on Premiere Day

The Power Rangers stars show off their fight poses during a school assembly on Friday (March 24) in Los Angeles.

The cast — Becky G, Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott and Ludi Lin — hosted a fun assembly at the 116th Elementary School, where they donated a ton of school supplies with Yoobi.

Later on, the cast headed to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for a special screening of their new film and met with teen patients at CHLA’s Teen Lounge, where they also dropped off posters and action figures from the flick.

Pink Ranger Naomi even made one patient an honorary ranger, by drawing another ranger figure on back of one of the posters.

'Power Rangers' Sequels Are Being Planned - Here's the Scoop!

The new movie Power Rangers is in theaters now and if it becomes a box office success, there are many sequels being planned for the franchise!

Haim Saban, the film’s producer and the founder of Saban Entertainment, revealed that a “six-film arc” is in the works.

Power Rangers director Dean Israelite confirmed the plan for five more films in the franchise.

“It is true that the Saban team, even before I came on to this project, had a document that laid out six movies, so Haim isn’t just saying that flippantly,” he told EW. “Obviously I was just incredibly focused on getting this one right and setting up the origin story while thinking about teasing the second one, so as far as I’ve gotten in terms of real discussion, creatively, we’ve only gotten kind of into the second one. We just haven’t had the time to really sit down and talk about the full six, but there’s no doubt there is enough material for it, absolutely no doubt that the franchise could be that big.”

“There’s a lot of ideas that are floating around and that we’re kicking around,” he added. “As you know, the universe is so expansive. There’s a lot to draw from.”

If you see Power Rangers in theaters this weekend, make sure to stay for the post-credits scene!
