Celine Dion Says Rene Angelil Was the Only Man She's Kissed

Celine Dion says that her late husband Rene Angelil is the only man she has kissed.

The 48-year-old singer made the admission in an interview on CBS Sunday Morning to celebrate her 1000th performance in Las Vegas.

“Before he left, it was very, very difficult for all of us,” Celine said. “For me especially, and my children, to see the man of my life die a little bit more every day. And when he left, it was kind of a relief for me that the man that I love, the only man that I kissed, the only man that I loved – yeah, I never kissed another man in my life. So the man of my life was my partner, and we were one. So when he stopped suffering, I said to myself, ‘He’s OK. And he deserves not to suffer.’”

Celine was asked if she hopes to fall in love again one day.

“Not now. Uh-uh,” Celine said. “I love. I love. I love him. I’m still in love with him. And I have the love of my children. I have the love of my fans. I love the people that I work with. So my life is not empty of love.”

Celine Dion Discusses the Night Husband Rene Angelil Died

Celine Dion is opening up about the night that her beloved husband Rene Angelil died and how he was found after he passed away.

The 48-year-old singer revealed that Rene died in his sleep after falling out of his bed in the middle of the night. While Celine was performing her Vegas show, Rene had tried to get out of bed, but fell.

Rene wanted to die in my arms,” Celine told Paris Match magazine. “He must have wanted to get up and he fell on the floor.”

“Normally, after my show when he had taken his last medications, I gave him a kiss, tucked him in and sent him off to sleep. That evening I didn’t want to wake him. It was the nurse who found him the next day. Distraught, she came to find me,” she added.

Celine also told People that when she returned home from her show, she didn’t want to wake Rene, who was back in bed following the fall. She also confirmed that a doctor told her “that there was no fracture or injury or hematoma” from the fall.

“I didn’t want to wake him,” she said. “I should have gone and said, ‘I love you and I’m here,’ but I don’t want to live with that regret. I meant well by not waking him.”

“I got on my knees and I kissed him,” Celine explained about what she did after Rene was found dead. “It was the coldest thing I’ve ever experienced in my life, but it was amazing. I said, ‘Promise me not to worry. I’m fine, the kids are great, we’re gonna be okay. It’s enough suffering. Just go in peace.’”
