Joaquin Phoenix joins his friend Jane Fonda on a Fire Drill Friday protest on Friday afternoon (February 7) at City Hall in Los Angeles.

The Oscar-nominated actor was joined at the event by his fiancee Rooney Mara and her sister Kate Mara at the L.A. based protest. Jane had been holding the peaceful protests in Washington D.C. for months.

More celebs in attendance at the Fire Drill Friday included Marisa Tomei with her manager Donovan Daughtry, model Amber Valletta, singer Moby, and Harry Potter‘s Bonnie Wright.

This is going to be an exciting weekend for Joaquin as he’s the frontrunner to win Best Actor at the Oscars on Sunday!

The 45-year-old actor is nominated for Best Actor for his work in Joker and he got support from his longtime partner Rooney Mara!

Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara are making another movie together, though sadly it’s not a sequel to Carol like fans have been hoping for!

The award-winning actresses will be reuniting on screen for Guillermo del Toro‘s upcoming movie Nightmare Alley, which has already begun filming.

Bradley Cooper, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Ron Perlman, and David Strathairn are also part of the star-studded cast.

In the upcoming film, “an ambitious young carny (Cooper) with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words hooks up with a female psychiatrist (Blanchett) who is even more dangerous than he is.” Rooney will be playing a carnival worker.

“I’m inspired and elated to be joined by this brilliant cast,” Del Toro said in a statement. “[Co-writer] Kim Morgan and I have worked with great passion to bring the dark, raw world and language of William Gresham to the screen and now we are joined by a superb group of artists and technicians to bring it to life.”

She rocked a black turtleneck with a black pinstripe blazer, along with loose-fitting blue jeans, black and white sneakers, and a black headband, styling her hair into a low bun.

Over the weekend, Rooney Mara and her fiance Joaquin Phoenix coupled up for the 2020 Golden Globes, where he watched her adoringly on the red carpet.

The two played a large part in the show’s decision to serve a completely vegan meal.

Animal-rights activist Moby revealed that Joaquin Phoenix is mostly responsible for the 2020 Golden Globes deciding to serve a completely vegan meal at the show.

“Joaquin and [his partner, actress] Rooney Mara sort of organized that. In the vegan mafia, Joaquin and I have known each other for decades — and I don’t know if I’m even allowed to say this — but I know that he was one of the people who helped arrange that. I don’t know if it was predominantly him or with other people, but he had mentioned to me a while ago that he was working on it,” Moby told Page Six.

Joaquin‘s rep confirmed that he was behind the charge to go vegetarian at the Globes, saying, “By acknowledging animal agriculture’s role in the degradation of our planet and boldly taking measures to do its part to reduce harm, the [Golden Globes organizers, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association] has shown great leadership.”
