Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Sturridge are going back to Broadway this summer for another run in the play Sea Wall / A Life!

The actors starred in a sold-out run of the show at the Public Theater earlier this year and they’ll appear in it for nine weeks only on Broadway.

The production begins performances on Friday, July 26 and the official opening night is set for Thursday, August 8. The limited engagement will end on Sunday, September 29.

Sea Wall / A Life features two monologues that explore the beauty of life and meaning of love. Tom performs Sea Wall, written by Simon Stephens, while Jake performs A Life, written by Nick Payne.

“The longstanding artistic relationships we share and beautiful material from Nick and Simon make this production an especially meaningful collaborative journey,” Jake said in a statement. “Carrie Cracknell has crafted a true theatrical event from two distinct monologues, which, together, shine a light on the universal experience and heart-filled exploration of the beauty of life and meaning of love. Tom and I are incredibly proud to bring this story to Broadway, and to be returning to the beautiful and historic Hudson Theatre.”

Tickets go on sale to the public on Monday, May 6.

The dinner included surprises & performances by L’Impératrice, Christine & the Queens, Billy Idol and 2 Many DJ’s.

The 30-year-old “Rolling In The Deep” powerhouse vocalist joined the 38-year-old Spider-Man actor and the 33-year-old Mary Shelley star for dinner at the Via Carota on Thursday evening (March 28) in New York City.

After the meal, Adele headed out first while Jake and Tom waited and walked out shortly after Adele.

The guys are currently starring together in the Off-Broadway play Sea Wall/A Life, in which they each perform a one-act monologue. The play runs through March 31.

Jake and Tom can also both be seen in the new film Velvet Buzzsaw, which is currently streaming on Netflix.

The show features the guys both performing a monologue – Tom does Sea Wall, an astonishing monologue about love and the human need to know the unknowable, while Jake performs A Life, an emotional examination of how sons become fathers and the transformative power of love.

Both actors are veteran stage performers in the New York theater scene at this point. Jake previously performed on Broadway in Sunday in the Park with George and Constellations while Tom appeared in 1984 and Orphans.

The co-stars stepped out for the event held at American Cinematheque’s Egyptian Theatre on Monday (January 28) in Hollywood.

They were joined by their other castmates Natalia Dyer, Zawe Ashton, Daveed Diggs, Mike Ostroski, Rene Russo, director Dan Gilroy, and producer Jennifer Fox.

Natalia‘s Stranger Things co-star and real-life boyfriend Charlie Heaton, Tyler Blackburn, Scott Stuber, David Dastmalchian, Brett Dalton, Zach McGowan, Stephen Boss, Baby Ariel, Allison Holker, Kate Flannery, and Alisha Marie were also there to show their support.

Jake and his co-stars also premiered the film at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival the day before.

In Velvet Buzzsaw, after a series of paintings by an unknown artist are discovered, a supernatural force enacts revenge on those who have allowed their greed to get in the way of art. Don’t miss it when it hits select theaters and Netflix on February 1!

Jake Gyllenhaal hits the red carpet at the premiere of Velvet Buzzsaw at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival on Sunday night (January 27) at the Eccles Center Theatre in Park City, Utah.

The 38-year-old actor stayed warm in a green and blue striped sweater as he was joined at the premiere by his co-star Natalia Dyer and her boyfriend Charlie Heaton.
