Cate Blachett's Blackbird Soars

Pregnant and proud Cate Blanchett joins actors Peter Kowitz, Danielle Catanzariti and Paula Arundell for the opening night of the controversial play Blackbird at the Sydney Theatre Company on Thursday in Sydney, Australia.

Blackbird is shocking, compelling and morally challenging, with its focus on the taboo of child sexual abuse. The storyline is about a 12-year-old girl’s relationship with a pedophile and what happens when she confronts him 15 years later. Cate the Great directs, reviews have been very positive.

Blackbird runs until February 16.

I love Cate Blanchett and I think she is one of the greatest actresses working nowadays.

I am thrilled for her two Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations, but to call her “Kate, the Great” is SO wrong.

There was only one “Kate, the Great” and her name was Katharine Hepburn, the best actress of all time.

Can she do NO wrong? I think she is the best actress out there END OF STORY. She can’t do a bad role, she has that face the camera loves and people /audience can empathize with. I would see her in any role. She also seems humble and NORMAL unlike the rest, and they seem to leave her alone.
