Why did she agree to present when they snubbed her so hard? Its disgusting how much more strict they judge african-american actors.

    @edimam: u have a point. frankie&alice was very good. i thought she was a shoe-in.

    whatever Says:

@edimam: they snubbed her because she was horrible in that movie! She embarrasses African American women with her constant portrayal as mentally unstable and this one was just bizarre with her playing someone who thinks she’s white, how much lower can you get!? Always playing these degrading characters. That said, I think Halle is beautiful, her skin is amazing, she has a glow to her and looks to be in her early 30′s! Which is why she has been so long lasting in the business, that and her choice of roles…But she is beautiful and no one can take that away from her, I just wish she would wise up when it comes to her career, and stop playing stereotypical Black women characters.

    poly Says:

@whatever: Its people like you that enforce stereotypes. How does she embarass an ENTIRE RACE? She is only accountable for herself.

Nobody would ever say “omg charlie sheen is embarassing white people” but when there is something negative said towards a avisible minority they are all of a sudden representing millions of people?

And please tell me how is it degrading to play a character who thinks shes white? What is wrong with that?

She did not deserve to be nominated anyway. She can’t act her way out of a paper bag.

    tricia Says:

It’s a character… she’s an actress, she plays a role. It’s not degrading! She’s an actress for goodness sake.

    Someone’s gotta play the role!!

The Oscars snubbing any minority race shouldn’t be surprising anymore. There’s only been what, less than 10 black women with Oscars. I don’t even know how many Asians and Hispanics. Let’s not forget about them as well, shall we?!

Hollywood is predominantly white male… it’s sad, but that’s how it’s always been and always will be.

I was hoping she would be nominated, not presenting : (
She is still one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen…she has that enduring beauty, like Audrey Hepburn, that defies the ageing process.

@tricia: Hollywood is run by Jews. You will never see a Muslim win an Oscar unfortunately. Almost everyone who is given opportunities within Hollywood are Jewish or is married to a Jew. Talent isn’t taken into consideration much.

Actors and actresses vote for best actress and I suspect they found Halle’s part in this new film another character about a down and out black woman…was not a far reach from her Monster’s Ball character. Of course the stories were different, but the central character was a black woman to whom life had not been kind. And it is about the unhappy and unfulfilling life she was leading. A kind of been there done that. Actors are rejected every day in seeking jobs, it would be ridiculous to refuse to present on the Oscars simply because other actors decided her work wasn’t Oscar worthy this year. She has an Oscar to keep her company…actually Halle has been there done that too!

    The B is Back Says:

@surefeels: Not really….there are some veteran actresses who have done fabulous work and have never won an Oscar and some of them are up for the award this year. People loads of brilliant acting goes un rewarded every year…it has little to do with Halle’s color.

    The B is Back Says:

@Alison: Oh please….Hollywood is run by people whose bottom line is the business of making pictures and making money. Last time I looked George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Jeff Bridges, Will Farrell, Kate Blanchett, Judy Dench, Denzel Washington, Will Smith, Warren Beatty and so many others are not Jewish and are some of the most powerful people in the industry. People win or lose the opportunity to be nominated and to win the Oscar for many reasons…few of those reasons is because Jews run Hollywood. Grow up

@whatever: Oh my goodness ignorance abides…I find it interesting. Black people have no problem watching other actors play tough characters who are not black, but refuse to acknowledge the work rather than spout social silliness. Who was yelling about Jennifer Hudson playing a stereotypical black woman in Dream Girls? I honestly did not think Ms. Hudson deserved an Oscar for portraying a character type, anyone in the black community could play. That character was as common as a loaf of bread in the black community. Halle’ Berry’s Monster’s Ball character was a tough character to play and I give her kudos…this new character or multiple characters in this new film was brilliant, but too close to the other charactor for too many. Also getting another Oscar for a down and out black woman simply wasn’t going to happen. I think far too many black people forget their is artistry in acting and choices made by actors is to try characters which test their acting ability…and is not necessarily made as a social statement.

    The B is Back Says:

@Alex: Alex, the arrogance of your statement demonstrates your total ignorance. You do not like Halle Berry’s acting and that is fine. But there is nothing about you that allows you to be able to stand in judgement of her acting ability. Honey, just because you don’t like her means nothing for anyone except you. Halle Berry is a brilliant actress who gets better with the passing years. What most people forget is that when working on a film, actors have directors and directors tell actors what they want from them in a film. Actors don’t just show up and act as they please. So when you critique an actor’s work…be sure to remember that actor’s performance was generally ask for by a director.

    The B is Back Says:

@poly: My gosh people she is an actress. She like most other actors try to find interesting stories with interesting characters. Also as a black actress, Halle has had to find her own stories because even as an Oscar winner, she still gets few of the top scripts out there for women. Hollywood is still fairly racist and doesn’t do much color blind casting. And, what better character than to play a play woman with multiple personalities and one of those personalities is a racist white woman. This is a true story. These things actually happened to a black woman. This was a film that Halle tried for a long time to get made. I do think she tried so hard for so long, that when it happened, she didn’t stop to think maybe this character superficially seems like another black woman with a difficult life. Or, maybe she understood that, but knew she wasn’t going to get another really good character to play in the films being offered, so she wanted to stretch herself in doing this tough character. It is a brilliant performance and well worth doing. And whether she was nominated this year or not…loads of people saw the film. I think with her beauty at 44 and the possibility for a second Oscar was too much for the haters in Hollywood, not unlike some of the twits on here. But Halle thrives in spite of the haters!

@whatever: u have no idea what u r talking about!!!! The character she plays in Frankie and Alice is the true story of a Black woman in the 70′s who suffers from multiple personality disorder/ dissociative identity disorder. one of the personality is a southern white racist woman, which is what made the story special! u should know and this was Halle’s best perfromance EVER! u should know what ur talking about before commenting

    JJ old news Says:

Halle was one of the first celebs to sign on as an Oscar presenter months ago. It has nothing to do whether she was nominated or not, which would’ve been and added plus. She wasn’t snubbed i.e. Madonna for Evita and then asked to perform at the Oscars.

Halle has presented most years since her win except: filming Perfect Strangers and filmed a clip with Jon Stewart/George Clooney, pregnant with Nahla and last year when she stayed home. She’s usually at this event, so this year is nothing unusual.

Halle Berry is boring, untalented, ugly, crazy, and a pain to listen to during interviews. She looks old in the face. She lost her looks. Her body is shaped oddly. She can’t keep a relationship or friendship! Isn’t that a clue?? She has NO friends. Olivier is just BUSINESS. Her daughter looks depressed and neglected. I am tired of people idolizing her and acting like she is the victim and innocent. At the end of the day, when someone lives a fake phony Hollywood vain life – that person will end up alone. It’s just the way life is. No sane man is going to put up with someone like Halle all day every day. She doesn’t even like black people period. And I hope Gabriel gets all the rights he can as a father!!! Sign no papers!!!
