Nicki Minaj's Grammys Performance - Watch Now!

Nicki Minaj levitates during her performance at the 2012 Grammy Awards held at Staples Center on Sunday (February 12) in Los Angeles.

The 29-year-old rapper kicked it off by confessing the lyrics to her new single, “Roman Holiday,” while sitting next to The Pope, the same man she walked with on the red carpet earlier in the evening.

The performance, called “The exorcism of [Nicki's alter ego] Roman,” was choreograhed by Laurieann Gibson and featured religious imagery, pyrotechnics, and backup dancers dressed as monks.

“OMG @ that chris brown performance. >>>>>>>> SHUT DOOWWWNNNN,” Nicki tweeted about another one of the night’s performers.

Blasphemy is her name and she rides on the scarlet beast. She shouldn’t mock religion but pray for talent.. she clearly has none and she knows it.

  • wtf was that

wtf did i just watch…she losing her got damn mind

  • J

This was literally a sad rip off of Gaga’s 2009 VMA performance.

  • Just me

A mixture of Madonna and Gaga, It was painfully obvious that she wanted to offend and be talked about, But she did it all wrong…. This performance was embarrassing and sad, A HUGE Fail!!
And I liked her before this, She lost major major points (and fans) at the Grammys.
    She F’d up … Bad.

  • SARA

Nicki Minaj will always be garbage, no matter what she does.

  • whitney

people dont have respect these days and the preforamce scared me i wish she stop playing like that before she get stuck in that frame of mind i hope she get help afterwards or be a actor

  • Michael Myers

No matter what she does, she is amazing, no only her egos but her music as well! She is an amazing artist and i would watch it over and over again !

  • http://www.yahoo.com dalgh

i thought it was ok give her a break its her first time and she is a new artist she will figure out the ropes just give her a chance i personally love her music she is a amazing singer and role model.

  • Marie

The Grammys, like the Oscars, can be quite boring, but these events are to be classy and not a time to show the world how ridiculous and untalented you really are. Gone are our classy soulful singers who command respect as they give it. People like Patty Labelle, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan. One night a year and you can’t pull out anything classy, that’s tacky. Niki believes that her weirdness is what will drive her music sales, and in a sick way it probably will, but I know I will never spend a dime on any of her music. And for those who do….wow so you want a bunch of weirdos to buy your music and you’re proud of that. Love LL Cool J, and thank god for Adele and Jennifer Hudson because they were worth watching and brought some class to an event that you expect a little more conservationism and elegance. Niki can find other venues that will allow her to entertain that mess but I hope the Grammys never have her back.

  • Where is the rock?

This performance was absolutely ridiculous. The fact that they even allow crap like this on TV period is beyond me. I thought the Grammy’s had class. All they ever show anymore is this god awful crap that nobody in their right mind wants to watch.

  • Skye

Nicki keeps it crackin like a bad back. she’s awesome ~

  • Anita

Wow. That was painful to watch. Would have been ok if the lyrics were good since the video SUCKED, but neither happened. I think she let fame get to her head. Just because you’re famous doesn’t mean spitting out shit sounds good.

  • Tina

@Marie: I agree, definitely not a class act. Loved the performances by Adele, Jenifer, Paul, Tim, and Chris.

  • D. Ransom

I’ve paused the video at 1:36. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, but I’m not sure if I can make it.

  • http://screaminmime.blogspot.com/ ScreaminMime

Nicki has officially “jumped the shark”.

  • http://website JBezz

@Uh…: Yes, generally speaking a terrilbe proformance, but the demonic inference was so clear – a lot of people have there eyes open wide shut. Unless you just don’t or you already choose a side

  • acbs

    i miss talented performers…
i’m only 26, but i know enough about people from before my day, shoot, from the ’90s and early 2000s even. But for some reason, now it doesn’t matter how talented you are, just how weird or “shocking” you can be. gets to a point where nothing is shocking and they’re all just clones. please bring back the talent…and thank you to the few talented performers we still see out there, even if you don’t get the attention you deserve due to horrible performances like this stealing the attention…

  • Alicia

That was the worst performance ever!!!! I luv nikki, but this just totally turned me off. She’s got some fckn issues to do something like that. I wish music was real nowadays instead of just trying to sell shit!!!

  • Greg

    @Yamileth:
Religion aside, this is just all around aweful. I think you should be more concerned with her insult to music as an art, rather than her attempts to push your buttons.

  • Victoria

It was bad enough already, but then she went and added that fake as hell Sharon Ozborne accent and I was like WTF is that

  • Gigi

I usually like Nicki but this is why Adele swept the Grammy’s last night because music lovers are starved for simple, unadulterated talent. We are sick of this- I’ll think of anything to try and ‘shock’ the world-garbage. Madonna did it and it at least felt genuine from her because sheactually had a past in the church and had an ax to grind, even though I didn’t agree with her but this crap is just attention seeking at its worst.

  • LilMissGuidette

See I didn’t watch the Grammys last night and I was wondering after looking at photos, why she was dressed like a dark nun with some guy dressed like the Pope around her arm (which erked me big time). And now after watching this video of her performance I just want to puke. I love her music but this is too much. I don’t know what her true view on various religions are but whether one believes in God or not you gotta know when to draw the line. Our freedom of expression has truly been abused. She pulled a Gaga with this performance, speaking of who is another big-time offender.

  • Nick

That surprisingly brought me closer to my Catholic faith, because now I know that Hell would be like that performance just always on a rerun. Nicki you failed. # LadyGaGawannabe

  • Jules

bleh, I feel like I need to take a shower after watching this.

  • joe

i like joes penis… and doo doos on my chest.

  • Oh Dear

Oh my, it was doomed from the start. This is bad….VERY BAD no wonder I missed it. God didn’t want me to see this.

  • Holly

I strongly believe that the only artist that can make a good cinematic music video/performance is Lady Gaga. Regardless of how messed up.

  • CLamb

Ughhh people so quick to judge. This was a GOOD performance. if you dont like Nicki then you wouldnt like it no matter what she did. But this was different, and entertaining. The only thing i wish is that she didnt sing as much, shes really pitchy and if it was less demonic and religious and more fantasy (Zombies, Vampires, etc.) because people allready have mixed decisions allready about that stuff. So Nicki . . . you get an A- for this one.

  • lena

I think that by far this is the best performace Nicki has made yet… Recognize talent when it`s due….

  • Christina

@Amanda: & Lady Gaga or any other female artist or just plain any artist in genre wouldn’t be anything without Witney Houston, she’s the one that most artists have looked up to, music wise. That’s the brutal truth. Deal with it.

  • Chris Broderick

I have yet to read so much as one positive comment about this performance, think I’ll skip it!

Glad I was able to catch Adele, though! What a gorgeous girl and magnificent voice!

  • AmICynical?

All that hair dye caught up up with Nicki Minaj.

  • bonerboner

Not gonna lie, Nikki Minaj is hot as ever.

  • Christina

    @Amanda correction *Whitney Houston

  • Christina

    @Christina: correction *Whitney Houston

  • Susanna

An artist has to be true to her/himself and not tailor their art to please EVERYONE!
So you lose some fans, teenyboppers, middle Americans, religious zealots along the way, no biggie. Stay the course and be true to yourself. True, her performance was self indulgent, pretentious, and heavy handed, but I’ll take someone failing on a massive scale doing something different over someone playing it safe and nice and bland.

  • EGeeziss

Go to KingAmped on youtube.com who has the new “Roman Holiday” post showing up in searches. The previous post got BANNED, had only 300+likes/1000+dislikes. Hmmm, I wonder why… furthermore, this post along with some others are BIASED & will only post likes for Garbaj. They throw some dislikes on the main bar to make it appear authentic. MTV’s also trying to put a positive spin on this SHIT performance. Baby’s throwin out $$$ to stop the bleeding lol… u know ur a FRAUD when u have to pay to be adored. Wackass Dumb Money – Death of the Weirdo!!!

  • Tonja

Hands down that was the worst performance of the night. She is just awful!

  • C C

What is this garbage? I can’t believe people found this entertaining…..what happened to morals and standards?

  • M A R Y

why nicki why!!!! lil kim doesnt even rap anymore so why are you still dissin her. I think the real beef is among fan bases that play HYPEMAN and encourage this nonsense, like the song stupid hoe and now this wicked performance (smh) Nicki just make more music we fell in love with like YOUR LOVE and SUPERBASS and stop dissin iconic legends before bad karma follow you with the sophomore jinx. one last thing dont fall into the media & blog hype, just do you and longevity is promise.

  • anna

isn’t the majority of her music about lil kim anywayz , ha ha nicki hold career thus far has been base on lil kim obseess much i see & girl NEVER PLAY WITH RELIGION LIKE THAT AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • talkingsquirrel

“wah wah wah I had to pray after watching this lord help us praise jesus let’s go hump a bible boo-freaking-hoo DERP DERP DERP”
I loved the performance. I thought it was creative, fun & theatrical.
People really need to chill out about the religious stuff. She isn’t the first to use religious imagery in her performances and she definitely won’t be the last. People are so petty sometimes, I swear. Call me an idiot, thumb’s down my comment, I really don’t care.

  • Ricqui

I feel like I need to burn my computer now…and my eyeballs.

  • Juliette

I’m a really big Nicki fan, but, this was just over done. When they began to sing Oh Come All Ye Faithful at the end, it got scary for me. I wanted no parts of that. There are just certain things you don’t do.

  • Jorp

    @A:
    Save the say?

  • Lele

I was confused throughout this entire thing. It’s great that people want to be different and entertaining but when you do crazy things to get attention, it becomes more and more difficult to top yourself each time. I think she’s at the point where it’s just all downhill.

  • OMG

Nicki Minaj, Super Bass was awesome. This crap you pulled on the Grammy’s put you off of any of my playlists. You are mocking religion. Please read the BIBLE, God will punish you for this. The money may be rolling in now but after that, who knows what will happen to you. Nicki should observe Adele, she is simple and sings with no effort, she is a true artist. Also the Foo Fighters who stated they did their last song, which won an award in their garage, no computers, ect, they used their real talent………Nickie, needs to watch and learn……..get a life.
